My College App Coach

I specialize in helping students discover the experiences, ideas, and perspectives that make their story uniquely theirs. Through personalized, one-on-one coaching, I help students turn those discoveries into authentic, compelling essays and a cohesive college application that reflects who they really are.

With decades of experience as an educator and college app coach, my approach is warm, open and encouraging. College applications can feel overwhelming, but with thoughtful guidance and a clear plan, the process can become much more manageable, for students and their families. I work closely with each student to help them understand what makes their story distinctive, and how to communicate it authentically throughout their application.

Great grades, stellar extracurriculars and strong recommendations are important parts of a college application. But what makes an application memorable is the writing that helps admissions officers understand the student behind all these achievements. I help students express what matters to them, how they think, what they’ve learned, and what they will contribute to their college community in the future. This is where the student’s unique story becomes so important.

A great college essay is not just a well-written account of all the awesome things that the student accomplished. It is far more – it gives the admissions officer a glimpse of the student behind the grades and the activities, highlighting what inspires them, what they are passionate to learn, what values they hold, what growth they’ve experienced, how insightful they are, and – most importantly – what qualities and unique aptitudes they’ll bring to a college community. My job as a coach is to ask the right questions, listen carefully, and help students uncover the experiences and perspectives that make their story their own. I then guide them to express that story authentically and in their own voice.

My students have gone on to attend a wide range of colleges and universities, including highly selective schools. Each application reflects the student’s individual strengths, interests, goals and stories. There is no one formula for a successful application.

Students I have coached have been accepted to colleges such as Harvard, Princeton, Cornell, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, Johns Hopkins University, Duke, NYU, Amherst College, Williams College, Vanderbilt, Emerson College, Washington University in St. Louis, Tufts, Penn State, Michigan State, Boston University, and the University of Southern California.
